Hudson Waterfall Hoodie

Hyeongjin Jang lives and works in New York City. Jang received a B.F.A. from the College of Hongik University, Seoul, Korea and an M.F.A. from Hunter College, New York, in 2003. Early in his career, he received the Korea Art Grand Prize and a Special Prize at the Fourth Dong-A Art Grand Exhibition, both at the National Museum of Modern Art, Korea (2009). His first solo exhibition was held in 2004 at Password (Megun Gallery), Seoul, followed by solo shows at Galleria Department Store and SamPoung Department Store, Seoul. After relocating to New York, he held solo exhibitions at ALT Alternative Space (2009) and the Tompkins Square Branch Public Library Gallery (2010), and participated in group exhibitions at Pratt Institute Gallery and PS122 Gallery, New York.

For years, Jang painted and drew street portraits across New York City, capturing the city's faces in quick, expressive lines. That same eye for portraiture and street life now shapes HJJSEE, where his original paintings and drawings are reimagined as patches and prints on hoodies — wearable art carrying the energy of NYC streets.
